Attendance Policy
Students shall be required to attend all sessions of the course from the date of enrollment to graduation. A leave of absence will be ranted in the case of illness, death in the family, or other extenuating circumstances as approved by the school. Three or more absences will be considered excessive and will result in the student being dismissed. You are expected to arrive on time. Being tardy more than three times will forfeit participation in class points toward your final grade.
Certificate
A graduation certificate and letter of recommendation will be awarded to those students attaining a 70% or above grade average. Those students whose grade average is below 70% will not receive a certificate but will be allowed to retake the entire course (if desired) within one year at a reduced tuition.
Credit for Previous Training
Previous training and/or education will not be credited for the dental assisting certificate course.
Disciplinary Policy
Students shall be a credit to themselves and to the school. All school rules must be followed. The school administration maintains the right to dismiss students for violation of school rules or for conduct that reflects unfavorably on the reputation or operation of the school. Students participating in an externship will be issued an ID identifying the student as a dental assistant in training and is expected to wear the ID during their externship. Participating students will also be required to obtain at their own expense appropriate clinic attire for their externship.
Enrollment Dates
Enrollment will be allowed only at the begining of the course.
Entrance Requirements
Only those over 16 years of age and who are in good health, show proof of Hepatitis Vaccination shall be admitted.
Legal Holidays
The school will be closed any Saturday in which the legal holiday (listed below) lands on a Saturday or the Friday just preceding. Legal holidays include, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Christmas Day.
Placement
If a student is interested in placement Accelerated Learning Systems, LLC will assist the student by making introduction to the available dental placement services in the area. Also many dentists throughout the Portland metro area know of the quality training provided by Dr. Densley. Our placement service also includes our professional relationship within the dental community. There is never any attempt by us to charge or earn a fee for the placement of our students.
Progress Standards
Students must maintain satisfactory progress while enrolled in the training. Each Student is evaluated weekly. If a student's grades drop below a 70% the student will be put on probation and will have three weeks to bring the cumulative grade to a 70%. If at the end of the probationary period, the student has not maintained passing grades of 70% or above the student will be terminated except for extenuating circumstances. Records are kept by the school and are available to the student.
Reinstatement Post Termination
If a student is terminated for any reason, readmittance will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the evaluation of the school officials. If the student is readmitted into the program, there will be a reinstatement tuition as noted below.
Student Grievance Policy
Students aggrieved by actions of the school should attempt to resolve these problems with appropriate school officials. Cancellation and Refund Policy
You may cancel enrollment prior to entering classes by giving written notice to the school.
- If cancellation occurs within five business days and payment was made more than five days prior to the begining of class, you will receive a 100% refund
- If cancellation occurs after five business days and payment was made more than five days prior to the begining of class, a $150.00 registration fee will be charged.
- If you terminate enrolment after entering classes:
- If a student withdraws prior to completion of 50% of the instructional program contract, the student shall be entitled to a prorated refund of the total tuition charged for the program. No refund will be offered for books and supplies.
- Upon completion of 50% of instruction, no refunds.
- Those wishing to cancel for illness or other serious extenuating circumstance - as determined by the school officials, may resume their course of study in the next session of classes with no penalty and may repeat the already completed sessions if desired.
Note: When a cancellation, termination, or completion occurs, a calculation of all allowable charges shall be made, using the last recorded date of attendance if any, as a baseline.
